Whenever I walked into a bookstore I'd always come across one book in particular: The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I never really gave it any thought and would place it back on the shelf. I liked the idea of it but I wasn't too interested in reading about some 14 year old boy's letters.
If only I KNEW!
If only I knew how wrong I was! Perks is one of the best reads out there. I've heard a lot of talk about how this book had changed/saved lives and a friend and me decided to make a book-list for October and Perks was the first on the list (along with The Great Gatsby, Somewhere I'll Find You, and A Separate Peace) and I couldn't believe how simple the complexity of the idea was. I see how it could change and save lives. Charlie is one of those characters that you wouldn't normally fall in love with but you can't help but do just that. He's a real boy with real problems and real emotions.
And imagine how delighted I was when I found out that they were making it into a movie. The author, Stephen Chbosky, wrote the screen play! And the cast is amazing with Logan Lerman playing Charlie and Emma Watson as Sam. I'm a huge fan of the two actors and I couldn't be more excited!
Now I'm currently reading The Great Gatsby and am loving F. Scott Fitzgerald and his writing.
